In an effort to try and get people to stop hating them, some genius at Toronto’s CUPE Local 79 came up with the brilliant idea to distribute cheap Chinese made trinkets! This counteracts CUPE policy on a couple of levels. First, there is no mention on these goods that they are union made- this is unlikely for cheat Chinese tat. And, second, it counters CUPE’s ‘commitment’ to environmentalism- more garbage to be thrown into the landfills.

There is a lot of debate on whether the Canadian Occupy movement was organic, or if it was a construct of the unions. personally, I believe it is a bit of each. It is the unions who put a lot of funding, and who sent a lot of the people who put it together. But, the soul of Occupy was brought by the individuals who were moved enough by the movement’s promise of something new that they decided to go urban camping in the winter.
Occupy was probably the closest Generations X, Y and the millennials will ever get to the spirit of the 60’s. People from diverse cultures, classes and ages banded together and built modern communes based on love and mutual respect- at least, at the beginning. But, as the NDP’s vampire union squid got a stranglehold on the movement, the soul quickly began to whither to where we are today. The movement is, for all purposes, dead.

I found this first-hand report of what happened at the past two Vancouver Casseroles marches on Facebook today. Read this in comparison to the radicals like Sasha Wiley-Shaw who were saying that the arrests were all a part of a Stephen Harper led conspiracy to ‘criminalize dissent’. Sounds much different- doesn’t it?

FYI, the woman at the end of the video, Megan Kinch of the Toronto Media Co-Op is the person that Anglican Priest (and daughter of former Poet Laureate & Order of Canada holder) Maggie Helwig went to and consoled after the attack. What is an Anglican priest doing fraternizing with the Black Bloc? Things that make you go hmmm…

Burned-out ticket station for Stanley Park Miniature Railway…
It all began on June 21st, Aboriginal Day, when a late night two-alarm fire was alerted in Stanley Park. Someone had lit the ticket station for the parks miniature railway on fire- putting the whole park at risk of being burned down. Luckily, the park was saved, but two firefighers were sent to St. Paul’s hospital with minor injuries. The fire is suspected to be arson…

I expected the Media Co-Op, Rabble.ca and The Tyee to publish inaccurate/slanted stories about the antics of the last two Vancouver Casseroles marches- this is pretty much a given. But, I was rather surprised this morning to wake-up and find similar crap in the Vancouver Province. Sure, like most papers the Province is often filled with crap- but, I’d never had thought they would publish an article siding with the miscreants who have been harassing the police the past couple of weeks…
