Follow-Up To Attorney General Nicholson About Kevin Annett


Dear Mr. Nicholson,

I’m writing to follow-up on the letter I sent you last week about Kevin Annett, a man who is spreading hate and inciting people to take attacks on the clergy at the United, Catholic & Anglican churches. Since I last wrote to you I have come across some new, and rather disturbing, information.

Yesterday I discovered that Annett has begun to involve children in his hateful crusade. I found a radio interview he did with a 12 year old girl where he was discussing how priests rape and molest young children. This is, by far, the most disturbing thing I’ve discovered about Mr. Annett- many people have been seriously upset on discovering this.

As time passes, and Annett’s support wanes, the number of videos has drastically decreased- as has the significance of the people who are posting stories about him. Chernobyl Heart: The Future For Japan’s Children…

Some recent news coming out of Japan has reminded me of that story- a study on Fukushima butterflies has found that over 50% of them have genetic abnormalities. I reported on a similar story back in April about plant mutations. And I reported a story three weeks ago discussing how radiation is being found in Pacific fish. Each day it becomes obvious that the disaster at Fukushima is having a dismal effect on nature.  So, what does this mean for the people of Japan?

Back in 1975, a entrepreneurial man sailed a ship across from Soviet Yugoslavia into Toronto’s harbour and setup what became one of our city’s legends. Regardless of it you like his ship or not, and regardless of you hated or loved the food, one has to have some respect for someone with the guts to try out such a venture.

Captain John kept this dream alive for almost 40 years living, working, and contributing to his city. Many people in the city of Toronto have special memories at Captain John’s , and some people have had horrible memories. Regardless, Captain John’s is a place with many memories.

OPSEU’s Sylvanna Peterson Has Resigned (Autistic children rejoice!)

If you were reading my stories back in June you would remember my series of articles about how the Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU) was promoting the use of martial arts gear against autistic children in the Simcoe County School District. The battle was intense, the parents & kids were going through some serious pain, and many people around the world were highly upset with this proposal. One of the things I’m most sick & tired of hearing from privileged Canadian protesters is how they continuously drone on about how Canada is an oppressive and unfair country. Honestly, this sort of complaining is an insult to people who live in oppressive countries. If you have any doubt, talk to the members of Pussy Riot, a Russian punk band who today were sentenced to two years in prison for protesting against Vladimir Putin inside of Moscow’s Christ The Saviour Cathedral. Open Letter To Attorney General Robert Nicholson About Kevin Annett

Dear Mr Nicholson,

I’m writing to you to request that the Attorney General’s office start an investigation into a man who has been inciting violence and hate against Canadian churches and government organizations. Kevin Annett has, for many years, been promoting hate crimes against the United Church, Catholic Church, Anglican Church, the RCMP and others.

Over the past year he has been escalating his attacks, and they are beginning to get dangerous. It was only six weeks ago when he published on the Internet a call for people to step into the churches and ‘tear the robes’ off of church clergy and throw them out of their churches. I view this as dangerous because there are legions of people out there who take Mr. Annett seriously.

United Church & Israel: Should Religions Be Getting Tax Exemptions For Political Activities?

 

A story came out today about how the United Church has voted to boycott goods produced in Israeli settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem. I believe that the church has also been discussing a more significant move to denounce the Israeli occupation. I’m all for this move, boycotts are an excellent way to punish countries who have illegally occupied other’s lands. That said, if the church doesn’t want to be hypocritical, they should also boycott products from Canada, the US, UK and other countries involved in the occupation of Iraq & Afghanistan.

I’ve been thinking about this issue ever since I heard the church was considering this move. Then it dawned on my today- are religious organizations being used as loopholes to enable tax-exempt political activities? In the case of many religious organizations, particularly on the issue of Israel (for or against) it seems to me that they are crossing the line…
