What If Harper Was A Dictator? (WWHD)

Dictatorship – Stephen Harper Style…

I don’t believe that Harper is a dictator- quite the opposite. To call Harper a dictator would be an insult to history’s great dictators. A better description for him would be a Dictaphone. He records what his masters (and sometimes his constituency) ask for and he plays it back to the people. If not a Dictaphone, perhaps he’s more of a dummy on the knee of the 1%?

But say, for argument, that Harper actually became a dictator. What would a right-wing Christian dictator who likes hugging kittens be doing differently than he is today? Let me share some ideas with you.

1.) People who are involved with radicalising parts of the population would be imprisoned, beaten and perhaps intricately tortured. This would continue for many years after the radicalised victims discovered they’d prefer to live in a peaceful world.

2.) There would be no discussion about the pipeline. Those who discuss pipelines will be punished.

3.) Women who have abortions would be subject to having fingers cut-off for each incident.

4.) Rather than hug kittens, Harper would throw them into a wood chipper setup beside the fireplace on Sussex Drive.

5.) I would be dead, along with everyone else at Occupy Vancouver who embarrassed him by asking if he would talk to the people. The girl who’s bike got run-over wouldn’t have got compensation. Instead she would be horribly mutilated in Harper’s wood chipper.

6.) Of course, Harper wouldn’t have had to run over the bike, because his security would probably have horribly beaten and mauled the protesters. Putin would have done the same.

7.) Judy Rebick would be living in Nunavut.

8.) Jose Jesus Miranda would be living on Sussex Drive. (He is Jesus after all…)

9.) The first round of union organizers would have joined Canada’s effort to hold sovereignty over the Arctic two years ago.

10.) The conspiracies that someone killed Jim Leyton would possibly have been true.

11.) PressTV wouldn’t be getting away with broadcasting divisive propaganda into Canada.

12.) David Suzuki would go missing in a rainforest somewhere.

13.) Canada’s addicts would be rounded up and put into mental hospitals. Harper would then announce that Canada doesn’t have any addicts, and that psychiatric patients need to start going to church.

14.) Ayn Rand would replace Derrick Jensen in any library where he may be present. Those who have borrowed that book would have been rounded up by now.

But, Canadians aren’t dictators. We’re not, and never will be. We are a tiny population sitting on the world’s most decadently rich natural resources. We’ve never had enough power of our own destiny – it has been dictated to us from outside for centuries.

Harper’s not a Dictator, he’s a Dictaphone. Just a cold little man who has sold-out Canadians who have differing points of view than his handler’s. These people exist on both the left and the right…

Meh, could be worse. We could end up with an Animal Farm revolution led by Alex Hundert, Kevin Annett and Taylor Flook.

  1. And this article shows you just don’t fucking get it do you??? Just because there’s a velvet glove on the iron fist or the corporate puppet is not beating you today does not mean he won’t tomorrow if his banking masters tell him to. Greg sometimes you even make me think you’re working for Harper. Quit being a fucking idiot.

    1. Why is there a velvet glove in Canada and not so much in other countries? Most Canadians take pride that our glove is velvet- isn’t this is the reason they give consent to it? If the fist got more iron, without distractions (smashy , smashy for example) I’m not sure the majority would stand for it.

Ya the ole hidden agenda .You are both fucking idiots.

    1. I don’t think it is a hidden agenda as much as it is a hidden influence. If an American billionaire had more political influence on an issue than a medium sized Canadian city, doesn’t that make you uncomfortable.?

Is it the dictator-like power that people have a problem with or Harper’s policies? For too many the “Dictator” issue is more about who weilds power rather than the power itself. Much like the Robo-call issue which was more about trying to over-turn an election than about actual electoral reform.

The root of the problem is that political parties in Canada are dictatorships. Instead of MPs and MPPs being responsible to those who elected them their first priority is to the party elite. The party elite dictate how the members will vote. If they choose to go against the party elite they are punnished and face expulsion from the party. MPs and MPPs are little more than regional PR reps for their respective parties.

The most recent example we can see of party dictatorship is when Stephen Woodward was silenced by party elite for wanting to debate abortion. I am not anti-abortion but I do not beleive he should have been silenced. The voters should be the ones who decide.

All parties are guilty of this dicator practice. Recently the NDP punnished two MPs for voting to scrap the Long Gun Registry. Even after these MPs had promised voters they would vote against it the party elite still expected them to change their views and punnished them for not doing so. Going back further we can remember the treatment of John Nunziada by the Liberal party.

Even in the United States parties do not weild the kind of power over elected members they do in Canada. Republican representative Ron Paul broke with the party elite on two major issues. He voted against the Patriot Act and against the invasion of Iraq in 2003. George W Bush openly feuded with Republican Trent Lott when he headed up the Senate. Many Republican’s voted against Bush’s No Child Left Behind program. In Canada we would never see this happen.

Until our elected representatives are allowed to have their own options parties stop voting as a bloc then the dictator cycle will continue to repeat itself.

  2. lol… I like corporate communist a little more… but really definitions are garbage, and this “guy” should be judged on his own merit of filth. Whats the point in settling for the best of the worse to try and justify “oppressive” actions. Of course Harper is not Hitler… but does that make him a saint?

I agree with Hammer, all parties and pretty much whoever “powers up” will be guilty of such practices. It all seems to come down to whether they screwed us as hard as the last guy.
