Perhaps I am just naive but, when I joined Occupy Vancouver, I truly never thought people there would believe stuff like this. Nor did I believe that 15 of them would re-tweet it!
Can someone please explain to me how one could imagine such a statement as being valid?

Just look at the streams of those who re-tweeted. You’ll soon see that they are all living in a fantasy world of their own.

Indeed. Someone must have really hurt their feelings a one time- I feel bad for them…
While I don’t advocate violence, philosopically I think the guy is simply a realist. As Mao said, “political power grows out of the barrel of a gun.”
On a related tangent, don’t you find it interesting that it is always the dogma of the Left to take the guns away from the people so that the people do not ever have a viable means to resist an oppressive government?

The whole issue of non-violence is a non-issue to me. Every revolution that started at the barrel of a gun failed…
That said, I’ve spent a lot of time in Switzerland, they have guns in every house and also have a rather peaceful land. But, their guns are supplied by the state, every household has one, and they are required to be members of the reserve army. So, unlike the American version, theirs is quite civilized. The American version obviously hasn’t worked- and as the economy continues to fail, we see the results more clearly.
I believe, in my heart, that the reality of the situation is that we can only have a successful revolution through peaceful means. All we need to do is all stick our heads out the window and yell: “I’m as mad as hell, and I’m not going to take it any more”. This appears to have worked in Afghanistan and Iraq- because, even the most powerful army in the world has failed at taming them- right?
are you fucking serious? the violence required to beat back the imperialist forces of the west in iraq and afganistan have been severe. as was the violence used in egypt during their so called peaceful revolution. they burned buildings, they shot the fascists who attacked them.
canada is a violent racist state based on genocidal ideas of white supremacy, as is the US. those ideas came from britain, germany, france, switzerland and other colonial powers (with an army or with economic control – swiss banks for instance).
